Four Noble Truths

Buddha himself does not create, invent Buddhism; but he discovered the truth knowledge of life, which he then working very hard, and putting his effort to propagate the teaching to the world. This is same concept with Newton, the scientist that discovered Gravity on this earth; if Newton does not discover Gravity, the truth of Gravity will still remaining on this earth.

Buddha only taught us one thing and the only one thing that he taught us from 2550 years ago; which “the suffering” is and “how to end the suffering”. Buddha saw that our world is in suffered, sounds so sarcastic, but it is true, when people are live under hatred, non-harmonistic, non-peaceful, war, bribery, killing of life, stealing and so on – these reflected what had taught by Buddha thousand years ago.

When Siddharta Gautama achieved enlightenment, he realized that things fall apart with a reason, same goes to the suffering, and we suffered because of a reason. Sakyamuni Buddha realized that the world is suffering, but we as people couldn’t see it because we are just enjoying temporarily happiness and joys,

“This is the noble truth of suffering: birth is suffering, aging is suffering, illness is suffering, death is suffering; sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair are suffering; union with what is displeasing is suffering; separation from what is pleasing is suffering; not to get what one wants is suffering; in brief, the five aggregates subject to clinging are suffering.”

When we are not ending the suffering that we have, then the cultivation of suffering will happened, and it becomes the origin of suffering, evolved suffering then caused higher standard of suffering.

"This is the noble truth of the origin of suffering: it is this craving which leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust, seeking delight here and there, that is, craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence, craving for extermination."

When we realized the existence of suffering, straightaway people have the nature that wants to terminate the suffering, it is the determination.

"This is the noble truth of the cessation of suffering: it is the remainder less fading away and cessation of that same craving, the giving up and relinquishing of it, freedom from it, non reliance on it."

After the three noble truths that we understand, Buddha, our beloved teacher then told us about the path that we can follow, that lead us to the cessation of suffering. (Dukkha Nirodha Gamini Patipada Magga)

"This is the noble truth of the way leading to the cessation of suffering: it is the Noble Eightfold Path; that is, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration."

The story of right hand and left hand

The story of right hand and left hand

Despite the question that always questioned by human, “Why we have two hands?”

But, had you ever think of this question before? Well, most of us might not.

Venerable Thich Nah Han addressed some key points that triggered my thought this morning, during World Buddhist Conference in Istana Hotel, and these points still mingled in my mind since then.

He said that once, he was trying to hang a picture on the wall, he take hammer on his right hand, and nail on his left hand. Naturally, he tried to nail into the wall, but accidently hit his thumb. Venerable Thich Nah Han then addressed a question to us “Does left hand scolded right hand before?”

Well, this question then been sent to my mind, and quickly I answered to myself, that my right hand never scolded my left hand before.

Everything in this world, comes with a reason,

There is enemy, that’s why we need friend; there is student, that’s why we need school.

There is a task that I need to hang picture on the wall and that is why I need hammer and nail.

Everything comes with a reason.

Everyone in this world come here with a reason
